Sichuan Project: Our Vision

On May 12, 2008, the Sichuan Earthquake devastated more than 20 cities and 90 towns, leaving more than 15 million victims in despair.

Both infrastructure and economy are inevitably the major areas of the recovery. The Youth Foundation, nevertheless, focuses on victims’ post-disaster rehabilitation, including mental rehabilitation, bonding of family relationship, rebuilding of social relationship and network, and psychological therapy for high-risk victims like orphans, families with lost members, disabled, and many others who are critically suffered. Post-disaster psychological rehabilitation must be intensive, expeditious and vast in the affected areas. Through working strategies in such multiple perspectives, The Youth Foundation’s vision is to provide holistic, professional and sustainable psychological rehabilitation for the victims of Sichuan Earthquake.
